Aan den H. Anno

Gegroet, Gij dierbre Leidsman,

Mijn heil’ge schutspatroon,

Die, na veel jaren strijdens,

Thans jubelt bij Gods troon.

 

U bied ik nu mijn hulde,

U wijd ik nu mijn lied;

Gij, die Gods wensch vervuldet,

Versmaad den mijne niet.

 

Neen, Keulen’s trouwe herder,

Zal steeds mijn schrêen geleîn;

Hij brenge mij steeds verder

Tot bij de Englen, rein.

 

Ja, Anno, Heilge Bisschop,

Geleid Gij steeds mijn schreên;

Breng mijn geluk tot ’t toppunt

In ’s Hemels heerlijkheên!

In the archives we also find a typescript of the poem ‘aan den H. Anno, Bisschop van Keulen’, signed with ‘Gymnasium Megen s.d.’. It is the same poem, with some variations in spelling [NCI OP106.53], however this typescript is not an original, therefore we only present the published version of the poem. ↑
